Born 1995, Isabelle Gotuaco split her childhood years between Hong Kong and the Philippines. She studied Philosophy at Haverford College (2014-2018) and received a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Fine Art from Brandeis University (2023). Today, her studio is based in Queens, NY.
"I am interested in making paintings that combine theatricality with a felt vulnerability. I use thick impasto and agitated brushwork to find a sense of movement and often, anxiety or unease, in my subjects. Most of the time, I paint from direct observation or from sketches."
