Jane Tardo (New Orleans, 1984) is a New Orleans–based conceptual quilt artist whose maximalist textile tapestries explore themes of companionship, nature, and the surreal. Blending collage and quilting, Necromancer Catgirlfriend conjures twilight worlds where the veil is thin, the wind whispers secrets, and love is worth calling back from the grave.
Tardo holds an MFA in Sculpture from the University of New Orleans (2020), was awarded 2 nd
prize at Baton Rouge’s Surreal Salon in 2022, and was a 2024 resident at the Joan Mitchell Center. Tardo’s cat-centric art quilts are regularly exhibited in New Orleans at LeMieux Galleries and at La Luz de Jesus and Thinkspace in Los Angeles. Their work has been featured in Kolaj Magazine and reviewed by The Times-Picayune.
Jane Tardo also creates experiential public art that blends folklore and screen culture into handcrafted narratives. King of da Mardi Gras, a quilted mechanical carnival, was permanently
installed at JAMNOLA in 2025. Presently, their touring performance, Haunted Hearse Phone Rollercoaster, is being resurrected for its 4th spooky season this October.
