RACHEL COPE
Rachel Cope is a New York-based artist whose work bridges the tangible world and the ethereal essence of memory. In this latest series of gouaches on paper, Cope’s intuitive approach brings subjects contained in dreamlike vitrines to life, creating an experience that is as joyous as it is haunting. As the co-founder of Calico Wallpaper, Cope has a unique mastery of how art occupies interior space. Her paintings for this group often function as "impressions" of her internal world, moving away from rigid structures toward a more fluid, psychological exploration. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and an art therapist by training, her work is held in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.''
