Kaylie Kaitschuck (b. 1995, Dearborn, MI) earned her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2021. With a background rooted in fiber, Kaitschuck's vibrant and imaginative embroideries embrace a dynamic tension between highly stylized drawing, "low-brow" aesthetics, and meticulous construction. In her artistic journey, Kaitschuck draws inspiration from the cultural mosaic of early 2000s America, exploring themes of identity, mortality, and the enigmatic allure of psychedelia. Her pieces reflect the nuances of teenage life and address the challenges of addiction and mental health, reflecting her experiences within Detroit's creative subcultures and serving as a means of navigating life's complexities. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at venues such as Goldfinch Gallery (Chicago), Lauren Powell Projects (Los Angeles), Gaa Gallery (Cologne), NADA (New York), Library Street Collective (Detroit), and Hiromart Gallery (Tokyo). Notable accolades include grants from the Red Bull House of Arts, the 2022 Detroit Artist Talent Fund, as well as features in the Midwest and MFA editions of New American Paintings.
