SLICES
A Selection of Works by Gallery Artists
OCTOBER 10 - NOVEMBER 11, 2024
MEPAINTSME is pleased to announce Slices, the gallery’s 2024 Fall Feature exhibition, bringing together new works by our gallery artists, and the artists featured in our online store.
The 25 works included in this show give us a sampling of each artist's practice -- a slice or sliver, so to speak, of their recent imaginings. Figurative subjects play prominently in the show, from the light filled romantic works of Laura López Balza, Christopher Davison and Aurélie Salvert, to the curiously seductive works of Joseba Eskubi, Gosia Machon, and Alexandra Duprez. Abstraction finds its place in the geometric works on paper by Elevator Teeth and German artist Ramon Keimig, and within the intricate floral compositions of Casey Jex Smith and David Joel Kitcher. Printed editions by Joakim Drescher and Oliver McConnie conjure creatures in precise form, while artists Nacho Eterno, Rachel Cope and Robert Kraiss take a painterly approach towards their embrace of symbolism.
There are also some unexpected surprises sprinkled throughout the exhibition. Clara Holt, who's delicate etchings have been presented in our store, includes her beautiful earthenware piece titled The Enchanted Castle. Another outlier is the haunted mixed media piece, Smiling Through Tragedy #1, from British artist Dominic Beattie, known more for colorful, non-objective, patterned work and installations.
