NACHO ETERNO
Nacho Eterno (Nacho González) is a self-taught painter and ceramist from Spain, who in 2021, gave up his life as a Barcelona-based tattooist and muralist to devote himself to a quieter life creating paintings and ceramics in the Girona countryside. His work exudes an enigmatic charm, likely due to the confluence of disparate influences — nature and architecture, primitive art and contemporary currents. Featuring a personal iconography of imagined characters, animals and abstract elements confidently arranged within a flat pictorial space, Nacho's paintings emphasize his natural graphic sensibility. The flat, graphic quality of the work, however, is refreshingly foiled by the artist's direct and organic approach to painting, which is fluid and materials-based. Upon close inspection, the artist's hand is apparent everywhere - the highly textured surfaces and nuanced variation of color lend an earthiness and warmth to the work that makes it as personal as it is skilled.
